Prices for FamiliesFees for family therapy and therapy for children and young people are generally in the range £50-£70 per session. A one-off consultation session will cost £70 or £100 for a one-hour or 90 minute appointment respectively. Colin appreciates, however, that families can often struggle to find money for ongoing therapy. He therefore offers two alternative means of accessing his services. Firstly, Colin is a registered practitioner with the Dorset Child and Family Counselling Trust (DCFCT). DCFCT is a charity that supports families, children and young people who are having difficulties. DCFCT will cover most of the cost of counselling for qualifying families. Criteria for qualification include the need to be resident in Dorset (includes Poole and Bournemouth) and with an annual income of less than £35,000. More information can be obtained from their website. If you feel you qualify, you should ask your GP or other family services professional to refer you. Colin Matthews is also an affiliate practitioner for the major health insurance companies. If you have health insurance, you should check with your provider to see if you or your family are eligible for therapy under their scheme and, if so, follow their guidelines for referral. This would most commonly be a letter from your GP, although some require a referral from a psychiatrist. You should bring any relevant paperwork with you to your initial consultation. Payments for therapy would then, generally, be managed between Colin and your health insurance provider. Please contact us for further details. Limited concessions are also available. |
